Mamba Invitational. It’s ya boy OG, the real Brooklyn Net himself, Baley tappin in on the blog for the first time. Season has arrived and I will be sharing with you my 24-25 MVP Race picks. This is all my personal opinion mixed in with the live odds-on Fan Duel. We are on the horizon of another great season with a ton of great teams and players that have expanded their roles to the be true alphas on their team.
I have not been this excited for an NBA season in a minute. Sadly, my Nets are still #1 in the Poverty Franchise rankings and Ben Simmons
will not be making an appearance on this list. Enough of my soap box, let us get to the picks.
Rating the MVP Race
5. Anthony Edwards (FD odds: +1200)
Fresh off a gold medal in Paris, he has a brand-new role as THE GUY in Sota this season. Ant showed that he has the capability to carry the load scoring wise but with the addition of Randle and the emergence of NAW and Naz to compliment the rest of their lineups, his playmaking will make his stats show out even more. Expect Ant to have 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists to go along with his 25+ points on a regular basis.
4. Jayson Tatum (FD odds: +1500)
The coat tail gold medal recipient with a seat imprint next to Haliburton’s has been the talk of the summer and not just in the Arnold household. Tatum began the summer with getting snubbed as Finals MVP and barely getting any minutes as the only member on 1st Team all-NBA. I am a firm believer that created a monster out of him this summer and weighed heavy on his mind. Put some chips in on him especially if he begins to shoot efficiently and Boston continues to dominate.
3. Nikola Jokic (FD odds: +400)
There is nothing else to say except for he deserves this award almost every season. He does it all but is on a revenge tour as well. The fresh look nuggets have a lot to prove and will be hungrier to take back what theirs. Jokic odds might be worth a gamble too especially if he can mesh with Russ and get to the top of West.
2. Luka Doncic (FD odds: +370)
Luka has the stats to win this award year in and year out but the criteria of winning hurts. This year will be Luka’s best team he has ever had with Kyrie, PJ Wash, Gafford, Lively and now the addition of assist recipient Klay Thompson. Expect Luka’s numbers continue to pop off but also expect his shooting to be more efficient.
1. SGA (FD Odds: +425)
This is SGA year. I enjoy all these players listed but SGA affects the game in so many ways. From scoring 27+ a night, to getting 5 rebounds, 5+ assists and 3+ stocks per game while shooting upper 40% from the field. Anticipate a couple more 3 attempts from him this season and having more success from outside. Thunder are positioned as the 2nd best team in the association but could see them easily becoming the 1st with new additions. SGA will continue to do what he does and be the best player on the best team. If I were a betting man, this is my pick 10/10.
NBA szn has arrived and I look forward to seeing if my rankings hold up at the end of the year. Tomorrow the rodeo begins for us gentlemen. Best of luck everyone except for Markees.
